WordAppeal is a communications agency in Paris, and FDJ United is their client. Twice in 2025 they needed interviews filmed in FDJ United’s London office. Twice we sent the crew and sent the rushes back to Paris for the edit.

01Shoot one

International Women’s Day, 24 February 2025.

One interview and B-roll, for a film WordAppeal was cutting from three: the other two were shot in Paris and Dublin.

The first ask, on 13 February, was three interviews in London. By the 17th it was one. The brief was precise: 4K log, framed wide enough for both 16:9 and 4:5, the speaker on a high chair looking screen-left to the interviewer, a Sony FX6 at f/2.8 and an FX3 at f/2.0, a wireless lav, and B-roll with strong background blur.

Crew in at nine, the speaker from ten to twelve, in the big meeting room at 17 Hartfield Road. FDJ United published the finished film on LinkedIn in March.

02Shoot two

Neurodiversity, 3 June 2025.

WordAppeal came back in May for a second day in the same room: two interviews on two cameras, high-contrast light, the background out of focus.

After the February shoot we added a camera assistant, and this time we sent a producer to ask the questions from the client’s interview guides. Crew in at half eight, interviews at half nine and twelve, with the camera angle changed between them.

The rushes went to Paris on two transfer links two days later, for WordAppeal’s own edit.

Questions

Filming interviews in London for an agency abroad

Can you film interviews in London for an agency based abroad?

Yes. WordAppeal is in Paris. For both FDJ United shoots they sent the brief, the interview guides and the call times, we crewed the day in FDJ United’s Wimbledon office, and the rushes went back to Paris for their edit.

Can you send someone to ask the questions?

Yes. On the June shoot our producer, Meg Amos, asked the questions from the client’s interview guides while the DOP and camera assistant ran the two cameras.

How do you hand over the footage?

By transfer link the same week, or on drives if you prefer. The June rushes went to Paris on two links two days after the shoot.

What does an interview crew cost?

On crew hire, every crew member is paid their full day rate, and we add a 10% booking fee and 2% insurance to everything we book. Each role’s day rate is on its own page: DOPs in London, for example.
