Customer story and testimonial video production
Let the customer be the story.
Customer stories, documentary-style: your customer, their words, their premises. No script, no autocue. We interview the way documentary makers interview, long enough that people stop performing and start talking.

How we make them
How a customer story gets made
Most customer stories go wrong before the shoot: the wrong customer, a feature list to get through, and legal notes that arrive at picture lock. This is how we run them.
-
01
Pre-interview first
Our producer spends half an hour on the phone with your customer before a date is booked. The story and the questions come out of that call, with the answer we’re hoping for written under each question.
-
02
Legal sees it early
Your legal team reviews the questions and shot list before the shoot, and the transcripts and cuts after it. Toast’s did both, and asked for substantiation behind every figure said on camera.
-
03
Around their working day
Interviews before service, while the room is quiet, then the business running as normal around us. At Mr Fogg’s that was a half day with a crew of two, and notices up so every guest knew we were filming.
-
04
One moment, not a feature tour
Miro’s film with Endava turns on one click in the product rather than a tour of the method. A film that explains everything stops being a film and becomes a webinar.
-
05
A local crew, directed from London
For Bin 4 in British Columbia we booked a Vancouver crew, briefed them with our shot list and interview plan, and directed the interviews from London over a video link. Nobody paid for flights the story didn’t need.
-
06
Cut for every placement
The hero film in four ratios, subtitled and clean, plus 15-second cuts for paid social. Feedback rounds are agreed before the shoot, with one set of notes per round.

FAQ
Customer stories: questions
Something we haven’t answered? Our team reads every brief within 2 working hours.
Drop us a lineHow much does a customer story video cost in the UK?
Our customer stories start at £9,500 for a full production, and most land between £9,500 and £25,000. That covers the pre-interview, the questions, the shoot, the edit, grade and sound, and the cutdowns. The number moves with how many customers you’re filming, where they are, how many shoot days it takes and how many versions the edit has to produce. If you only need a crew to film your own interviews, a two-person shoot day is £2,690.
What’s the difference between a customer story and a testimonial?
A testimonial is a customer saying you’re good. A customer story shows it: the problem, the turning point and what changed, told by the customer. Documentary-style means the method of documentary applied to a commercial format: real contributors, actual locations, unscripted interview, events filmed as they happen. A documentary-style testimonial is a customer story told by the customer, in their own words, on their own premises — not a scripted endorsement read to camera.
What do you need from our customer?
About half an hour on the phone with our producer, then a shoot day, sometimes less. Mr Fogg’s City Tavern gave us a pre-interview call and a half day around a morning interview, with its own staff behind the bar and on the floor. We send the questions ahead, film around their working day, and the company on camera signs off the cut, as Endava did on Miro’s film.
How does legal review work on a customer story?
We build it into the schedule from the first timeline. Toast’s legal team reviewed our interview questions and shot lists before each shoot, then the transcripts and cuts after it, and asked for substantiation behind any figure said on camera. For AimHi Earth’s film with PepsiCo, language, claims and imagery were agreed with PepsiCo before the first interview. NDAs are standard.
Can you film a customer story outside the UK?
Yes. For Toast’s story at Bin 4 Burger Lounge in British Columbia we booked a Vancouver crew, briefed them with our shot list, story arc and interview plan, and directed the interviews live from London over a video link while Toast’s team watched from the US East Coast. Where a UK crew adds something the story needs, we send one. Where it doesn’t, you shouldn’t be paying for flights.
How long does a customer story take?
It depends most on your customer’s diary and your review chain. Miro’s crew loaded in at Endava’s headquarters thirty days after Miro’s first email. Bin 4’s final cut went to Toast five weeks after the shoot, and Mr Fogg’s was published about ten weeks after its shoot, once Toast’s teams had been through four rounds of feedback.
