Offline Editing
Brand – Documentary – Broadcast
Offline editing is where the story gets built, where pacing, structure, and sections come together before any of the polish goes on. It’s the stage where things start to feel right, or not, and where a good editor makes all the difference.
At Here Now Films, we offer offline editing that’s fast and flexible. Whether you’re handing over ten hours of rushes or dropping us into a cut midstream, we’ll shape it into something that moves. From branded campaigns and social cutdowns to longform documentaries, we help find the version that actually feels right, not just the one that hits timecode.
We’re not a fancy Soho facility with seven suites and craft beer in the fridge, but we do work with a tight crew of trusted editors, in-house and freelance, who know how to get good work done. We edit in our own spaces, remotely, or in established London studios when you want to sit in. Most of our clients care more about the story than the sofa. So do we.

Offline Editing Services
Narrative Editing
We shape story from rushes, transcripts, or loosely built assemblies. Whether it’s a reactive campaign film or a feature-length doc, we help pull meaning from the footage and build a version that holds. Interview-led, observational, or structured, we’ve done all of it.
Proxy Workflows
Our projects run on proxy media, making edit and review fast and fluid, especially for longform or remote collaboration. We handle all transcoding and relinking in-house, so you get responsiveness now and a clean pipeline into online and grade later.
Assembly & Rough Cuts
We’re used to building from chaos, starting with selects, stringouts or scene breakdowns and moving quickly into a rough cut. We can follow a detailed brief or run with a loose creative direction, and we deliver clearly labelled versions ready for review or feedback.

Versioning for Review
We export clean, timecoded versions for internal and external review — formatted for client notes, funder approvals, or legal signoff. If you need cutdowns, alts, or feedback-friendly layouts (e.g. slates, supers, subs), we can build that in.
Editing from Script or Paper Edit
If you’re coming in with a beat sheet, a script, or a paper edit, we’ll work straight from it. If you need help building one, we’ll support that too — using Trint, AssemblyAI or your preferred tool to align rushes with story.
Multi-Language Dialogue Edits
We’re comfortable editing multi-language films — cutting around translated interviews, subtitle cues or international VO. We can deliver subtitle-ready cuts, bilingual review versions, or editable stems for localisation.
Formats We Cut
Offline editing isn’t one-size-fits-all. We work across formats that demand different approaches — from tightly scripted campaigns to unscripted longform docs. Whether you’re shaping a branded story or building a full-length episode, we’ll match the pace, tone, and structure to fit.
- Branded Docs – story-led brand films built around real people
- TVCs – fast, frame-accurate edits with sharp commercial rhythm
- Episodic Series – longform structure with shortform pacing
- Documentary Shorts – punchy, emotional narratives built from hours of rushes
- Longform Interviews – structured A-roll builds, synced multi-cam edits
- Case Study Films – concise, client-focused edits for corporate and comms use

How We Work
We’re set up to flex around your workflow, whether you’re starting from scratch, handing over a paper edit, or just need someone to take a rough timeline over the line. Here’s how most clients work with us:
1. Remote Editing
Most of our offline projects run remotely: fast, clean and totally manageable from anywhere. You send the rushes, or we pick them up, we then cut the film. Reviews happen over Frame.io, Vimeo, Zoom, or whatever works for you. It’s streamlined, secure, and fully collaborative.
2. Studio-Based Editing
If you’d prefer to sit in on sessions, we can work from established edit suites in London. We partner with post houses that offer client-ready spaces when needed, without the overhead of a fixed facility.
3. Frame.io & Vimeo Reviews
We’ll set you up with a cloud-based review system that suits your team. Add comments on the timeline, review from anywhere, and keep feedback loops clear. No more “version_13_final_FINAL_v2.mp4”.
4. Edit Handover Options
If you’re doing the finishing elsewhere, we’ll prep the offline for smooth handoff, with full project folders, synced timelines, drive clones or cloud delivery. We can export XMLs, relink-ready timelines, and cue sheets for whoever’s taking it forward.
5. Working with Your Director or Producer
We’re used to working closely with directors and producers, whether that’s sitting in, reviewing in real time, or jumping on calls to talk structure. We can follow a beat sheet or build one with you as we go.
6. Pick-Up Edits & Midstream Projects
Already halfway through a cut and need someone to jump in? We do that all the time. We’ll onboard fast, match the tone, and get the job over the line, without undoing the work that’s already been done.
