Corporate video production for London’s leading wealth management company.

We stood staring at the pile of lights, camera boxes and plants in the corner of the flat. Light streamed in from ceiling to floor windows stretching the length of the studio. We were in Hackney, London, setting up for the second leg of one of our biggest corporate video productions in London to date. We’d already traveled to New York where we’d met the founder of the company and delivered high end interviews of the USA arm of the company. Today was the day we filmed the leading team members based in London. We even had someone flying in from Switzerland!

Corporate Video Production London: Alti

Who is Alti Global?

Alti Tiedemann Global are one of London’s leading asset wealth management companies. Their operations span the globe and they work with their clients over generations not just years. As Alti move forward as one of the world leaders in their field they decided it was time to bring together their ideas and vision into a punchy, concise brand film that showcased who they are and what their clients get when banking with them.

How did we approach this corporate production?

Telling the story of such a complex, multi faceted company is a great challenge. It involves getting under the skin of what makes the company tick and working closely with experts in the company to highlight their key messaging. Often people in the company are too close to the message to understand what are the key parts of their story to get their clients to connect with them.

It all began with digesting all the most recent information Alti had to give us. From their investment prospectuses to press releases, private chats and news articles. Once we had a firm grasp of who Alti were we invested a lot of time upfront to create rough scripts that were passed through multiple teams. From legal and investment, to sales and marketing, the script was stress-tested to pass every test. From the script we then back engineered a set of questions that we knew would allow us to get us the content we wanted.

Delivering a multi country corporate production

With offices in Singapore, London and New York, Alti is truly a global company. Just capturing the London arm of the production simply wouldn’t do. The team at Alti settled on filming in New York and London, and they’d get key members of staff to fly into these locations from around the world to make sure we included the full spectrum of talent that the company has at its disposal.

Multi location shoots have huge challenges, often you will be working with separate teams, with separate ways of doing things, in completely different locations. Let’s break this down a bit.

For a London video production company to travel to New York you’d need work visas, you’d need to do a heap of research upfront and you’d need to be certain you can get the right gear at a competitive price. We made the decision early that we’d rather save the client money and ensure we deliver a really high quality product by working with a local team.

In New York we worked with a trusted video production partner called We Are Films, the company is a well known video powerhouse with some great films to boast. They’ve done everything from feature films and series to one off corporate productions. They did everything for us including kit rental, location scouting and actually delivering the production. We had our producer, Morgan, head over there to make sure everything ran smoothly but other than that it was a completely US crew.

Finding a location for a corporate video production in London

Back in London, we had the challenge of making sure the location matched the New York location. We needed a space with large glass windows stretching the entire side of a building, a modern finish and enough furniture and props to really plump out the space.

There are heaps of ways to find great studio locations in London for video production but we opted to use JJ Media for this one as their selection of high end spaces is absolutely brilliant.

The space we used had props, plants, and a huge space that could be moved about as we pleased.

Crewing a big corporate production in London

You don’t need big crews to accomplish great things. We often shoots productions in London with one or two people as a part of a lean team. For this production we opted for a slightly larger team as the clients were time poor and we knew we had to nail this first take.

Alongside being a video production company we also work with companies across the world securing and delivering film crews for hire across the whole of the UK. We have a solid data base of great crew that we know we can rely on.

For this production we had:

- A DOP
- A director
- A producer

- An Assistant

- A Gaffer

- A sound recordist

- Hair & Make Up.

This may sound over the top but by having all of this crew we actually saved money by getting it right the first time, being able to set up quickly and making sure that the quality of the product was as good as it can be!

How we approach an edit like this?

So, it’s the day after the final film day and we’re now looking at two days of interviews, totaling hours of footage. The topics we were speaking about were incredibly complex and involved words and ideas completely outside of our remit… so, how do you approach an edit of an interview like this?

Firstly, we’ve done enough research and spent enough time with the client that we understand the narrative completely and this is a great place to start.

Secondly, when approaching an edit like this, we break the whole thing up into stages:

  1. Immediately after the filming process we take all the footage and we upload it onto an AI powered transcription software called Trit. This creates transcripts linked to the the audio files that we can edit and chop around.

  2. Working with the client we pull together a powerful working script that we can get signed off before even touching the footage… this means we know 100% that the final film has the right message.

  3. Once we’ve locked in the interview sequences we like, we then add the footage of the interviews, add B Roll and overlay high end quality stock footage.

  4. Finally we hand across the final film alongside full transcripts of the interviews that the client has as a resource for quotes, and socials.

Conclusion

Well, that’s it for now! We’re in the depths of the edit for this piece and will be releasing the final film soon.

Keep an eye on the films page for more!
